AJAS is a peer-reviewed journal published in English twice a year, in February and August. Manuscripts can be submitted year-round, though the deadline for the February issue is December 15th and that for the August issue is June 15th. However, not all papers submitted before the deadline are considered for publication of the nearest issue, but can be moved to later issues depending on the number of submitted manuscripts at the moment.
Manuscripts can be research papers, book reviews, and research notes. A research paper is academic writing based on the author’s original theoretical or empirical analysis on a particular topic (related to Africa in this case). A review paper is to describe and analyze a book on its content, style, and academic/societal contribution. A research note is to introduce research trends in African studies, which could encourage debate on methodological and ethical issues existing in the field.
The editorial policies for submission of manuscripts to AJAS are as follows:
(1) Please format a manuscript in a MS Word file. (2) A manuscript must include a title page that includes author’s name, current position, postal address, telephone number, e-mail address, and short biography. (3) A manuscript must include an abstract in a paragraph of 150-200 words and four to five keywords. (4) Manuscripts must not exceed 11,000 words. (5) Reference style must refer to our style guide. (6) To submit your manuscript, send it to email@example.com. (7) All manuscripts submitted will be first reviewed by the editorial board and then, if they pass, will be sent out to external reviewers.
